Field Application Specialist – Genomics (qPCR & Digital PCR)

Position Overview

An international life sciences company is seeking a highly motivated Field Application Specialist – Genomics to support customers and collaborate closely with commercial teams across the Netherlands.

This position requires strong scientific expertise in molecular biology, particularly in qPCR and Digital PCR technologies, combined with excellent customer-facing and communication skills. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted scientific advisor to customers while contributing to business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific and Technical Support

• Partner with the sales team to provide high-level pre-sales and post-sales technical support.

• Act as the subject matter expert for qPCR and Digital PCR applications.

• Provide timely scientific, technical, and application support to customers and internal teams.

• Troubleshoot customer issues remotely or on-site and ensure effective resolution or escalation when required.

• Support the implementation of instruments and workflows within customer laboratories.

Customer Engagement and Training

• Build strong relationships with customers and serve as a trusted scientific resource.

• Organize and deliver product demonstrations, workshops, and user training sessions.

• Assist customers in optimizing workflows and maximizing the value of genomic technologies.

• Support onboarding and training activities for new users.

Commercial Support

• Collaborate with sales teams to identify new opportunities and support business development activities.

• Contribute to the growth of instrument, reagent, and consumable sales within the installed customer base.

• Support lead generation, opportunity qualification, and project implementation.

• Participate in sales forecasting and provide market feedback to management.

Product and Market Intelligence

• Gather customer feedback regarding products, applications, and market needs and communicate insights to relevant internal stakeholders.

• Stay informed on scientific developments, emerging technologies, and industry trends in genomics and molecular biology.

• Provide technical training and knowledge sharing to commercial colleagues when appropriate.

Territory Management

• Manage demonstration instruments and demonstration sites within the Netherlands.

• Support customers throughout the Netherlands, with occasional travel to Belgium and Luxembourg as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

• MSc or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Genomics, or a related scientific discipline.

• Candidates with a BSc and significant relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience involving qPCR and/or Digital PCR technologies.

• Strong background in molecular biology and assay development.

• Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) is highly desirable.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Application Scientist, Technical Support, Field Application Specialist, or similar customer-facing scientific role.

• Previous commercial or sales support experience is strongly preferred.

Additional Information
