Job Purpose:
The Head of Short Courses is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination and quality management of the short course portfolio. The role oversees course development, faculty communication and operational alignment to ensure a high-quality educational offering that meets both clinical standards and commercial objectives.
The position is primarily home-office based, with regular travel to course venues to maintain oversight of programme delivery, faculty engagement and operational quality.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Lead the planning, scheduling and development of the short course portfolio together with head of practicals across multiple venues.
  • Ensure courses are aligned with educational objectives, market demand and organisational strategy.
  • Maintain an overview of programme performance and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Coordinate speaker availability, course content, logistical requirements and teaching materials.
  • Maintain strong relationships with speakers to ensure consistently high educational standards.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to ensure smooth delivery of all short courses.
  • Provide clear planning parameters regarding course numbers, equipment requirements and venue logistics.
  • Support operational team in troubleshooting and ensuring consistent delivery standards across locations.
  • Maintain and develop quality standards for course delivery.
  • Review delegate feedback and implement improvements to maintain a high level of educational quality.
  • Monitor the financial performance of the short course portfolio.
  • Support pricing, budgeting and course viability decisions.
  • Contribute to strategies that support sustainable growth of the short courses.
  • Attend selected courses and venues to maintain oversight of programme delivery.
  • Support the promotion and development of future short course offerings and cross-selling with modular courses.

Requirements:
 

  • Demonstrated experience in programme coordination, course development or educational management.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with speaker, delegates and internal teams.
  • Ability to balance operational oversight with strategic programme development.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of programme performance.
  • Strong IT literacy and familiarity with database or CRM systems.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to course venues and attend evening or weekend events.

Desirable:
 

  • Experience in veterinary education, clinical practice or a related animal health environment
