Our client is an international family-owned industrial group, recognised as a centre of excellence for the development and manufacturing of combustion engines (diesel and gas) and high-performance hydraulic components. Their products serve a wide range of industries: construction, civil engineering, mining, agriculture, decentralised energy, industrial machinery and aerospace.

THE ROLE

Within the engine components division, you take technical ownership of the Crank Case and Cylinder Head subsystem for the next generation of diesel engines.

In this role, you will:

  • Decide on the technical content and timelines for the development of new engine components, as well as improvements to existing components, in line with Project Management.
  • Define the technical specifications of the components to be developed and their key operating parameters.
  • Work in a cross-functional team with Design, Engine Tests, Electronics and Project Management to ensure technologies and specifications match project requirements.
  • Support FMEA processes, and update and follow up on internal and external engine test activities.
  • Work closely with suppliers on technology surveys, component development and tear-down activities.
  • Define maintenance requirements for the subsystem and report development status to the Platform Manager.
  • Own the Master Design and Validation Plan (DVP&Nr) for the subsystem and prepare technical releases for components under development.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in combustion engine development
  • Proven experience with cast iron parts: manufacturing processes, design-for-casting and failure modes
  • Solid understanding of the thermo-mechanical behaviour of cylinder heads and crank cases, including heat transfer
  • Strong command of the DVP&Nr methodology, troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Excellent command of English required, German or French a plus
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office
  • Analytical thinker with genuine leadership, flexibility and resilience, and a constant awareness of cost and resources
