Location: Bavaria (home office) with regular travel throughout Bavaria and Austria.

Our client is an independent family-owned company and has been one of the leading exporters of French delicatessen products for more than 55 years, with a particular passion for premium cheese specialties and gourmet foods.

With a network of over 300 French and European suppliers, the company serves customers in more than 40 countries worldwide and is renowned for bringing authentic French gastronomy to international markets. Around 180 employees work every day to successfully promote and distribute these products across the globe.

This position has become available as the current incumbent, after nearly seven years with the company, is moving into an internal management role.

To strengthen the sales team, we are looking for a Retail Account Manager (m/f/d) for the Bavaria and Austria region.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Head of Retail Germany/Austria, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and volume development across your territory.

This is a highly field-based role, requiring customer visits approximately four days per week. Overnight stays in Austria are expected around 2–3 times per month, depending on travel planning. Territory management is organized independently and with a high degree of flexibility.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, developing, and maintaining an existing portfolio of retail customers.
  • Implementing the company’s sales and marketing strategy within the territory.
  • Identifying market opportunities and developing appropriate sales initiatives.
  • Planning and executing sales campaigns, promotions, and customer events.
  • Building and maintaining long-term, sustainable customer relationships.
  • Managing commercial agreements, coordinating promotional materials, and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Monitoring market trends and competitor activities and providing regular reporting.

Candidate Profile

  • Commercial education or a comparable degree.
  • 3–5 years of experience in sales or business development, ideally within the food, gourmet food, or FMCG sector.
  • Knowledge of retail distribution networks in Germany and/or Austria is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-driven, structured, and hands-on working style.
  • Passion for high-quality food products, particularly delicatessen products and cheese specialties.
  • Fluent German and French language skills are essential; English is an advantage.
