Complex Risks Underwriter

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess and underwrite complex risks across various sectors, utilizing advanced analytical skills to evaluate applications and proposals.
  • Engage with clients to gather necessary documentation and information to determine risk profiles.
  • Collaborate with brokers and clients to tailor insurance solutions that meet their unique needs and requirements.
  • Monitor and review current policies and claims to ensure compliance and to identify opportunities for coverage enhancements.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on risk management strategies and insurance products.
  • Participate in training and development programs to stay current with trends in the insurance market and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and stakeholders related to risk assessment findings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party risk assessors and other professionals in the industry.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, insurance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in underwriting or risk management is a plus (e.g., CPCU, AU, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients.
  • Fluent in French; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.

Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in underwriting, with a focus on complex risks and commercial insurance.
  • Proven track record of evaluating and managing high-value risks.
  • Experience in a brokerage or insurance company environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with current industry regulations and compliance standards.
