AI / Machine Learning Engineer – Spain

We are currently partnering with fast-growing international SaaS and AI-driven scale-ups in Spain in the search for an AI / Machine Learning Engineer to join high-performing product and engineering teams.

This is a high-impact role for engineers who want to work on real-world AI systems, including LLM applications, scalable ML pipelines, and production-grade machine learning infrastructure.

The position is based in Spain (Barcelona or Madrid), with hybrid working and remote flexibility depending on experience and seniority.

The Opportunity

Companies across Spain are struggling to hire engineers who can bridge the gap between machine learning development and production deployment.

This role focuses on building, deploying, and scaling AI systems in real business environments — from LLM-powered applications to recommendation systems and data-driven products.

You will work closely with data engineers, backend engineers, and product teams to bring AI solutions into production at scale.

This is not a research-only role. It is focused on applied AI, system design, and production engineering.

What You Will Be Doing

• Build and deploy machine learning and AI models into production environments.
• Design and maintain scalable ML pipelines from data ingestion to deployment.
• Develop and optimize LLM-based applications and generative AI solutions.
• Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures.
• Work with vector databases for semantic search and embeddings.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI into SaaS platforms.
• Improve model performance, latency, scalability, and reliability.
• Support MLOps practices, including model versioning, monitoring, and CI/CD.
• Work with distributed systems and cloud-based AI infrastructure.

Key Skills & Technologies

• Python (essential)
• Machine Learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn)
• LLMs and Generative AI applications
• MLOps and production deployment pipelines
• AWS / Azure / GCP cloud environments
• Kubernetes and containerized deployments
• Vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, etc.)
• LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar LLM frameworks
• RAG architectures and embedding systems
• Data processing tools (Spark, Kafka, dbt)
• CI/CD pipelines for ML systems
• API development for AI services
• Basic understanding of distributed systems and scalability principles

Candidate Profile

• 3–8+ years of experience in Machine Learning Engineering, AI Engineering, Data Science (production-focused), or Software Engineering with AI specialization.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Proven experience deploying ML models into production environments.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or generative AI systems.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with APIs, microservices, and scalable backend systems.
• Knowledge of MLOps principles and deployment workflows.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and product-oriented thinking.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, international environments.

Language Requirements

• English: Professional or fluent level (required for international team collaboration).
• Spanish is a plus depending on company setup.
• Additional European languages (French, German, Dutch, Nordic languages) are highly valued in many scale-ups.
