Directly Reports to: Head of Soft Research in Europe

Job Purpose:
Implement sound supply/demand analysis and price forecasting for China
Lead the local soft research team with a matrix reporting relationship to the trading department
Ensure sound stakeholder linkage and communication
Manage a 5 to 10 people team

Responsibilities:
1. Conduct and supervise China fundamental research in Grain, Oilseeds, Sugar and Cotton.
2. Compile a supply/demand and price database
3. Manage China crop forecasting capabilities, leverage and align to other commodities
4. Define the strategy and development for China Soft Commodities Research
5. Manage the China soft commodity research / agronomist / analyst team
6. Roll-out of best practices of commodity market analysis in China
7. Leverage the internal/external information network for market insight and research

Key Result Areas: (Key Performance Indicators)
1. Sound S&D analysis, forecasting accuracy
2. Stakeholders’ satisfaction, P/L support
3. Contribution to overall soft commodity research and trading teams


Education and Qualifications
- Agricultural Economics, Economy, Econometrics, Agronomy, Business and Administration.

Languages
- Fluently in English and Chinese/Mandarin, any additional beneficial

Experience
- 3- 5 years in the commodity industry / Commodity Research
- Experience in Asia including cultural understanding
- Experience managing people

Skills

- Analytical/statistical skills
- Understanding commodity crop cycles, weather impact and demand factors
- Sound knowledge of trading tools and macro economics
- Team development and leadership skills
- Attract and develop talent
